Our need for singers varies from year to year, but we always have room for skilled and enthusiastic singers! If there's a gap in your life that could be filled with a music hobby, get in touch by sending an informal email to johtaja@cantinovum.fi, and you might find yourself singing with us sooner than you think! You are also welcome to attend our rehearsals on Tuesday evenings.
Activity in the choir
Cantinovum’s year usually includes 3 - 5 bigger concerts. In addition, there can be a handful of smaller performances such as visits to other concerts and different celebration events. We also work with Jyväskylä Sinfonia, local music producers and participate in choral festivals at home and abroad.
Requirements
As a member of the choir we expect you to participate in rehearsals and gigs and to have readiness to train individually. During the season from August to May we practice at the Jyväskylä Open University of Applied Sciences’ main campus at Rajakatu on Tuesdays from 18:00 (6:00pm) to 21:00 (9:00pm). Additionally we have weekend rehearsals 2 - 3 times a semester in Jyväskylä or in the surrounding area
Auditions
For those interested, we organize an opportunity to sing a song of your choice (unaccompanied) for a few representatives of the choir, during which we will also test your vocal range and pitch recognition. Details about the audition process can be found on the audition page:

Note:
Although Cantinovum is the representative choir of JAMK, you don’t need to be a student at JAMK, a music student, or a professional to join – enthusiastic singers are welcome to try out, regardless of background.
